Follow the dead river
The Vrishabhavati river starts near Basavanagudi and flows, mostly forgotten, right through the city. Trace it as far as you can bear.

How to do it
- Start near Basavanagudi, where the river begins, and follow the water, the drains and the low land as best you can. Look at old maps if you can find them.
- Much of it runs along the Mysuru Road side to the west of the city, covered or channelled. Expect to lose it and find it again.
- Wear walking shoes and do not enter the water. Note where it disappears.
